Protopage - Information Web Portal
An information web portal, utilizing web 2.0 technologies, is a creative and engaging method of presenting curriculum appropriate information to students. For this assignment, I had the choice of developing an information portal with either Netvibes or Protopage; I chose Protopage. This tool enables teachers to build a shared Internet environment to enhance classroom learning. My information portal supports kindergarten math and reading and includes introductory information, both student and teacher internet resources, videos, and additional educational resources. While designing the information portal, I envisioned utilizing such a tool to enrich the learning experience of my students and increase quality communication with their parents. For example, this tool could be used to develop a homepage with classroom news and events, create a portal for individual subjects or post homework dates and materials.
