Weebly.com - WebQuest

Utilizing web 2.0 technologies, a WebQuest is an inquiry oriented lesson format in which most, if not all, of the information that the student uses comes from Internet resources.  A well developed WebQuest focuses around a doable and interesting real-life task, requires higher level thinking, and makes good use of the web.  I created my WebQuest on Weebly.com.  My WebQuest is an educational website on nutrition and fitness developed for a second grade science class.  It requires the students to step into a nutrition specialist or fitness trainer role and develop a healthy menu and fitness program for a week.  It also requires building a grocery list for the items on the weekly menu.  Please click on the WebQuest link below or the screen shot above to personally view my WebQuest.

While designing the WebQuest, I envisioned utilizing such a tool to enrich the learning experience of my students far and beyond traditional instruction.  By utilizing this technology, life and meaning could be brought into subjects and materials that are normally dry and boring for students.  For example, this tool could be used in social studies to learn about a government or business (setting up a town with government officials, setting up businesses and incorporating jobs, marketing, cash flow, and more).
